Startup recognition under Startup India hit a record in 2025-26, and Uttar Pradesh is among the leading states by number of recognised startups. This page covers DPIIT data and the incentives under the UP Startup Policy 2026.

Importance to the Indian economy

DPIIT recognised more than 55,200 startups in 2025-26, the highest in a single year, up from more than 36,400 in 2024-25. The total crossed 2.23 lakh recognised startups by 31 March 2026, with over 23.36 lakh direct jobs reported (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, via PIB).

As per DPIIT, Uttar Pradesh is one of the five leading states by number of recognised startups and direct jobs. The state's 2026 policy routes most grants through recognised incubators.
