Udyam (MSME) Registration
Udyam registration is the Government of India's identity for micro, small and medium enterprises. It is free, Aadhaar-based and permanent, and it is the gateway to almost every MSME benefit, from collateral-free loans to delayed-payment protection.
MSME classification (from 1 April 2025)
An enterprise is classified on both investment in plant & machinery or equipment and annual turnover. The limits were revised by notification S.O. 1364(E) dated 21 March 2025.
| Category | Investment up to | Turnover up to |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | ₹2.5 crore | ₹10 crore |
| Small | ₹25 crore | ₹100 crore |
| Medium | ₹125 crore | ₹500 crore |

Common questions
Does Udyam need renewal?
No. Registration is permanent with no renewal, but the details should be kept current. Investment and turnover are refreshed from tax records, so your category can change as the business grows.
Why get professional help for a free registration?
Mistakes in NIC codes, the type of activity (manufacturing, service or trading), or the investment figure can affect eligibility for subsidies, CGTMSE cover and MSMED Act protection later. We check classification and activity codes against the schemes you plan to use.
What about informal micro units without GST or PAN?
The Udyam Assist Platform allows informal micro enterprises to register through designated agencies, which brings them into priority-sector lending.
